Every now and then you create a design that you like at the time. A few years pass and you look back at it and feel like you did a terrible job and want to redo it. This is that story.
Back in September of 2014, Deane Geiken asked me to design a patch. He is a family friend and it was for a game that I had played with him before called Artemis. I will admit. I wasn't particularly happy with the results when I saw it again recently. In case you're curious, this is the original I did.
Overall, not awful for someone with very little experience with Inkscape and using artwork he found online. Seriously though, the only part I created was the A logo and the star field.
Recently I saw it again and decided to redo it. This is what I came up with.
And yes, I did all of the design work for this one. It was a lot of fun going through a project that I first did almost three and a half years ago. I got a chance to learn a few tools that I haven't know about or even how they worked. Two of the tools I learned along the way was the Interpolate tool and path effects which I used for making the laurel wreath.
So go out and redo some of your old designs. You might be amazed at what new tricks you pick up along the way.
Until next time,
